'Harrowing' is a word not often used to describe dance music. It can, however, quite easily be applied to PIL's disturbing dance masterpiece "Death Disco." This song was written in response to John Lydon's mother's last wish that a song be written for her. If she was half as twisted as this song, I can understand why Lydon came out the way he did.

I have never been too tolerant of post-punk, but when grafted to a dance beat, those sensibilities produce things like this, and, more importantly, New Order.
